It’s Time to Plant More Blueberries!

Last January, we planted nine community blueberry patches throughout Forest Heights. Nearly a year later, all but one or two of the bushes are alive and well. Now it’s time to plant some more!

This year we don’t have to raise donations, because the Forest Heights Blueberry Festival was a big success last summer. We have $1,500 to spend on new bushes, signs for each patch, plus enough mulch and fertilizer to dress up all the new and existing beds.

We aim to do all of the work on Saturday, January 29, 2022, and we need lots of volunteers again this year. So, please sign up here, if you can help.

We’ll continue to spread the locations of the patches throughout the neighborhood. We’ll reconsider all of the 30+ locations that were offered, but not selected, last year. Plus, we’d love to have new sites to consider (especially along the sidewalk on Forest Heights Drive). If you have a sunny spot along the street, and you’re willing to let people step into your yard to pick and eat berries, please register your address here.

Also, soon we’ll begin planning for the second Forest Heights Blueberry Festival. If you’re interested in getting involved this year, please contact me, Bart King, at Bart.King@4newgrowth.com.
